KHATVANGAS
Khatvanga has deep symbolism and Guru Rinpoche said that every yogi of the secret mantra should have a khatvanga. According to the ancient tantras in general, and in particular the text of the terton Jatson Nyingpo, khatvanga can be of few sizes: long – the length of the arms spread apart, the middle – the length of the arm, next is elbow length and small – 12 fingers in length. In general, khatvanga represents consort of the practitioner Secret Mantra. In this way, khatvanga symbolizes method for women and wisdom for men. Khatvanga symbolizes the body of a deity whose nature is great bliss and essence is the absolute bodhichitta. Trident symbolizes the cutoff of three poisons. 9 chain links – 9 chariots Crossed vajra symbolizes unhindered actions for the benefit of beings according to their needs. Three severed heads – dry, stale and fresh – symbolize Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya. As for the vessel, it is filled with bodhichitta nectar. Ribbons of five colors represent that the teachings of the Secret Mantra turn five poisons into five wisdoms. The shaft itself symbolizes the union of one’s own body and mind with a deity, which gives rise to great bliss. And half of the vajra at the lower end means that samsara has no base or root.
